Office of Research Compliance
The Office of Research Compliance (ORC) reports to the Vice Provost for Research and Dean of the Graduate School and is directed by Dr. Ilze Krisst, Assistant Vice Provost for Research and Director of Research Compliance. The administrative functions of the Institutional Review Board (IRB), the Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee (IACUC), and the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) report to Dr. Krisst. She is also an ex officio member of the Conflict of Interest in Research Committee (COI) and serves as its staff. The Director of Research Compliance is also the designated individual to receive allegations of research misconduct.
In addition, the administrative function for the faculty consulting process is also seated in the Office of Research Compliance and is directed by Dr. Krisst.
The Office of Embryonic Stem Cell Research Oversight reports to the Vice Provost for Reseach and Dean of the Graduate School (Storrs) and to the Dean of Academic Affairs and Education (UCHC).

The Office of Research Compliance Welcomes Rachel Shenyo
Welcome Rachel Shenyo. Rachel joined the ORC in March as Senior IACUC Coordinator. She comes to the ORC from Taconic Farms, Inc., a company that breeds mice and rats for use in scientific research at facilities around the world. Rachel was a senior administrator for the veterinary services department at Taconic and she brings with her, a wealth of experience with their animal care and use programs! Rachel will be responsible for gathering information for the AAALAC accreditation process here at UConn and for other IACUC related responsibilities.
IACUC Prepares for AAALAC Accreditation
The University is preparing for AAALAC accreditation for its animal care and use program. AAALAC is the "Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care." AAALAC International is a private, nonprofit organization that promotes the humane treatment of animals in science through voluntary accreditation and assessment programs that require institutions to meet standards of excellence in animal care and use.
